Sharing the Wealth: Why Write about the Best Desks for Designers?

If you’re like me, you probably sit at your desk for 12 hours, 14 hours a day. That’s a lot of time to spend in front of a desk. If you have a cheap desk, that’s not good. So I want to help you guys upgrade your desk, and also get something that’s going to work better for you. I’m going to show a mixture between some sitting and standing desks but mainly some sit-stand desks. And so I want to give you guys that variety. Now one of the hard things for me is I have a hard time making a decision and narrowing things down. And I like to do research, it takes me a while to research things before I go to buy them and you’re probably the same way. And that’s why you read this article.

What Makes These the Best Desks for Designers?

So a good desk is an extension of being a designer. I personally am using a Mainline. This is what I use the majority of my week as a sit-stand desk. I actually got a killer deal on this thing on the OfferUp app, which is an awesome app to find us deals on desks and you can get a desk like this.

My desk is pretty heavy but it’s super sturdy. I can adjust it to the exact height that I want it. It doesn’t have any memory but it’s a really great, decent-sized desk that I’ve been able to put a lot on it. You’ve probably seen it in many of my videos and I don’t plan on getting rid of it any time soon. If you want to be able to get a desk like this, this is going to run you about $1000.

Researching the Best Desks for Designers

I did this research for you looking at what’s the best for the best price. And I compiled a list specifically for designers. So if you’re a designer, this is going to be geared towards you. The desks that I’m going to cover can range anywhere on the low side, I got an $80 desk in there, which is dirt cheap, there’s no excuse anybody should be able to afford that. And as high as $1,000 desk. If you’re looking at a desk like mine, it’s on the list. You can range even higher than that.

How the Best Desks for Designers Make Your Workday Breeze By

I wanted to share with you guys that some of the greatest thinkers in our entire history of the world have been known to stand while they worked. Thomas Jefferson, Ernest Hemingway, Ben Franklin–all these great thinkers were known for standing while they worked. Standing at your desk is much better for you than sitting.

If you’re reading this article, you’re probably looking for a new desk, and I got some good news for you. We’re going to talk about the seven desks that I think every graphic designer needs. I did a bunch of research and put a great list together for you. Later, I wanted to talk to you about standing desks versus sitting desks. For now, let’s talk about the ergonomic value of the seven desks that every graphic designer needs.

Ergonomics: The Defining Feature of the Best Desks for Designers

I wanted to make a video about the seven desks for designers for my fellow creatives because I know what it’s like to experience neck pain, back pain, having to pay for chiropractic visits, not sleeping well, and all the things that come along with sitting at your desk all day. Ergonomically-minded desk companies are working to solve this issue by creating desks with the form and function of the human body in mind. Including the health benefits, there are a lot of things I’m going to cover in this article that you really need to understand, especially if you’re a fellow creative–like a designer–that’s sitting at your desk for hours and hours.

Adrian Agency Picks: 7 Best Desks for Designers

These desks can range widely in price. They can get very expensive, but it’s an investment similar to your mattress. For clarity, you spend eight hours or more sleeping per night, so you want to invest in a good mattress. You want to invest in a good desk for the same reason: you will be spending a great deal of time sitting (or standing) at it. So, without further ado, let’s go ahead and jump into the seven best desks for designers.

Vari Electric Standing Desk

Of course, because I’m such a huge supporter of standing desks, the Vari Electric Standing Desk is the first graphic design desk that I’d want to show you. It has two motors and is 60 inches by 30 inches in size. It’s a gorgeous desk. That’s why it’s ranked number one on the list, along with the excellent quality. It’s a sit-stand workstation with a sit-stand option that I would be very interested in checking out if you’re looking for a sit-stand desk with a classic aesthetic. The fact that it has push-button memory settings is one of the reasons I appreciate this desk. So you can adjust for four or five different heights and program them, which is a good upgrade. You’re getting a significant discount when you do the Vari and a fantastic function and features for the $500-$600 price range. That’s an excellent bargain.

Tribesigns Computer Desk with Hutch

So the second desk for graphic designers is the Tribesigns Computer Desk with Hutch. This is a budget desk. I put this on here for a reason. If you’re looking for a desk on a budget, you’re still looking for a good quality desk. I think this is a good desk for those who have limited budgets but don’t want to sacrifice quality. You can look at the reviews on Amazon and other websites and make the decision yourself. It has good reviews and that’s why it made the list as number two. Bargain hunters, check this one out.

Casaottima L Shaped Desk

The third desk is an ultra-budget-saving desk and it’s also an L-shaped desk, which is why I had to share it with you. The Casaottima L Shaped Desk is a really nice desk. It’s very, very affordable. This is something that any designer should be able to get. If you need more working space, you will really love the L-shaped desks. In fact, behind the cameras in our studio ( which you can’t see watching the video), there’s an L-shaped desk. There’s an L-shaped desk in the front area of our office, and we have two smaller desks, as well. However, I use the L-shaped desks often. I have an L-shaped desk in my house. I really like this desk style for form and function. I just think it gives you more space to work with and you have that extension of the side table which is nice. That’s why I made the Casaottima L Shaped Desk number three on the list.

CubiCubi L Shape Computer Desk

The fourth desk that I wanted to mention is the CubiCubi L Shape Computer Desk. This one is a nice professional desk. It comes at a good price in the $100 range. It’s also a very good-looking desk. It’s a nice desk, overall, with good, quality construction and design. I wanted to put this one on the list because I like these L shapes. And although it’s not a standing desk, it is a good desk. Though, if you’re going to be working in your office, I just want to encourage you again to stand. Even if you don’t get a standing desk because it’s not in your budget to spend that kind of money for the motors and all that, get something that has enough room working room to allow you to stand and actually looks nice at the same time.

Ecoprsio Home Office Computer Desk

The fifth desk I want to include is a bit of a tongue twister: the Ecoprsio Home Office Computer Desk. It is a nice professional desk that has a little hutch right below it. To me, it’s a smaller-sized desk. So if you’re trying to fit a desk in a smaller space, this is the space-saving solution you’re looking for. The design is clean and professional; I love the wood color and texture of it. I actually almost bought one of these when I bought my Mainline because it matched some of the decor items that I have. I wanted to put this as number five on the list because I think it’s a great space-saving desk. It’s simple, great-looking, affordable, and it has the storage space down below to put your computer tower (if you have a tower), books, supplies, or anything you want. This is one of the best desks for designers with space concerns on this list.

Teraves Reversible L Shaped Desk

desk number six is number seven is the Teraves Reversible L Shaped Desk. This one’s cool. I wanted to add it to the list because it’s stylish, it looks nice, and it has a nice wood top with a white frame. I think you can get it in a black frame, but the white frame gives it a really classy look. It’s a good quality desk at a reasonable price. The pièce-de-résistance? You can actually switch the L-shaped panel from one side of the desk to the other. This makes it more versatile, especially if you are an ambidextrous designer. It also has storage space, making the Teraves Reversible L Shaped Desk overall a great, high-quality desk.

Autonomous L Shape Smart Desk Pro

I saved the best one for last for a reason. This desk is something that I’ve had my eye on for a really long time. When I go to upgrade my Mainline, this is what I’m going to buy. I love specific brands for the way they design their brands and where they position their brands. I’m a big branding guy, so I want to see a brand that’s doing it well and has a good quality product that has some really good financing options. I want to pump that and promote that, which brings us to the Autonomous L Shape Smart Desk Pro.

This thing not only has an adjustable-height frame, but it also has the L shape that I prefer in a working desk and it’s a standing desk. With the Autonomous L Shape Smart Desk Pro, you’re getting a high-quality desk from a high-quality company that brings together all the best aspects of modern desk design. Autonomous carries great warranties on their products and they offer financing on their products, which makes it easier to invest in a better desk. They even have a version that you can control from your phone. It’s that innovation that won me over and showed me that Autonomous makes the best desks for designers in today’s market.

Quick Note: Narrow Sit-Stand Devices Are Not the Best Desks for Designers

I wanted to mention something real quick now that we’ve gone through all seven. There were a bunch of very tight sit-stand desks where you can just basically put your laptop at the top and it goes up and down. So it’s a sit-stand kind of device that sits on top of your regular desk. I personally don’t like those. I think they’re clunky, awkward, and funny-looking, so I’m just not a huge fan of those.

That’s why I didn’t add those to the list. The biggest reason why is that I don’t think they’re aesthetically pleasing. I believe there are several better sit-stand alternatives for the price. You might as well just spend a little extra money and get a sit/stand desk that has everything in one, right? I felt it was important to share my reasoning for excluding them since there are several fairly inexpensive “desks” in this category.

Four Reasons Standing Desks Are the Best Desks for Designers

The most essential thing I wanted to communicate with you in this post is why you should consider investing in a standing desk. The greatest thing about standing versus sitting is the amazing health advantages that come with standing and being more active while you work. So, without further ado, I’d like to get into some of the statistics regarding your health. They’ll assist you in validating what I’m saying about the standing workstation by providing you with information on how it can benefit your health.

Neck and Back Pain

The first is back and neck discomfort. I’ve personally experienced it. After I switched to a standing desk, my problems vanished. However, anecdotes aren’t evidence, and you want to know what the experts think. In just four weeks, using a sit-stand workstation reduced upper back and neck pain by 54%, according to the CDC. That’s just number one: on its own, it’s enough to justify purchasing a sit-stand desk.

Heart Disease

Number two is heart disease, there have been clear stats and studies that have been done around standing versus sitting, especially after you eat, that is going to reduce the rate of heart disease, I think it was something like 45% of people that stand more per day than sit have a longer lifespan that will live longer. So this will extend your life. And heart disease is one of the leading causes of death in our country.

Weight Gain and Obesity

Number three is lowering the risk of weight gain or obesity, right? Sitting all day at a desk is not healthy. Not only is it bad for your neck, bad for your heart, but it’s also bad for your weight – putting on more weight and gaining more body fat. When you stand, you’re burning more calories. Plus, when you’re doing art, you want to draw with your body. You’re not drawing with your hand because you’re limiting the flow.

So when you stand and you’re working while you’re standing, you have much more flow, and you’re going to be working more efficiently. This is something that I really want you to take into consideration to take to heart that moving and standing are the better options over sitting. Just having that specific time per day where you’re actually standing at your desk rather than sitting at your desk is going to be super helpful for your health.

Improved Mood

The last health benefit I want to share is improving your mood. That’s important, right? If you’re not feeling in the right mood, you need to get your head right, and your energy levels. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, 87% of standing desk users reported a considerable increase in vigor and energy throughout the day when using a standing desk.

So this will have an impact on your energy, mood, and productivity. You’ll feel as if you’ve accomplished more. That’s ultimately what I want for your company and for your life. To feel more productive, happier, more fulfilled are all things I desire for you. So consider these four health advantages of sitting over standing when you’re at home to help motivate yourself to stand more often during the day.

Final Thoughts on the Best Desks for Designers

I really want to encourage you to take charge of your health. The biggest takeaway I want to send you home with is that it’s not just about buying the best desks for designers; you need to find a way to stand more often during your workday. On that note, it’s time to take a stand. If you love this article, if you’re loving everything that we’re doing here, definitely join us in the Instagraphics Pro Network on Facebook.
